Tiles
What started as an idea for a rug, a flat human on the ground, evolved into a variety of pattern designs for interior tiles. The initial idea was the question if people would react differently to a fake flat human rug as to an actual animal skin. Then the design became less gruesome and more playful, and eventually a dry sexual. The human drawings were forced into squares and hexagons, distorting the proportions of body parts. Then I tried to make the tiles interact with each other, this became the orgy tiles and the people holding each other up inspired by puzzle pieces. When the tiles are placed, a grout in a complementary earthy colour would be used to fill in the gaps and emphasise the designs.
I started with sketching and using the esher paper cutting technique, then I made plaster malls and pressed red clay into those.
